Goodbye, Earl (of Edrington)
*To be sung to the tune of "Goodbye,Earl" by the Dixie Chicks.
Archie K. and Horry were the best of friends
All through their middie days
Both members of the Captain's Club
Both sailors on the briny deep
After making lieutenant, Horry sailed off
Searching for a brave new world
Archie looked all around the seas
But all he found was the Earl
It was only two weeks after Archie got laid
The Earl started getting bored
He wanted whips and chains
Leather and canes
He begged for more and more
Archie called Captain Foster to ask for order
But the Earl stomped him into the floor
Right away Horry H. sailed in from the Atlantic
On a red-eye, midnight boat
He held Archie's hand and they worked out a plan
And it didn't take 'em long to decide:
The Earl had to die.
Chorus:
Goodbye, Earl! Those navy beans!
Tasted all right to me, Earl!
Well, Cap'n Daddy came by to bring the Earl in
He searched the ship high and low
He tipped his hat and said, "Thank you, Archie,
if you hear from him, let me know."
Well the weeks went by and spring turned to summer
Summer faded into fall
And it turns out the Earl was a missing person
Who nobody missed at all.
Chorus:
Goodbye, Earl! We need a break!
Let's go sailing on the lake, Earl!
We'll take Sir Percy's yacht!
You'll like that a lot, Earl!
Now the boys bought some land
On the Cornwall coast, and set up a sailor's inn
They sell farm fresh eggs and
good French toast
And no one ever mentions *him*,
'Cos the Earl had to die...
Na na na na na na, Goodbye, Earl!
THE END
